Afonso is owner of innovation consultancy Saint Brand and focused on building corporate ventures. Afonso’s career spans 16+ years of marketing, design, tech consulting and entrepreneurship. Initially graduating from the University for the Creative Arts (UK) together with Universitat Ramon Llull (Barcelona), Afonso held senior roles at WPP such as Global Brand Guardian for Vodafone, and at Adidas as senior design manager where he lead the global brand design for the world cup 2014. With a creative background, both as awarded designer and team lead, Afonso completed his MBA at INSEAD (France and Singapore) to join LinkedIn London, where he undertook several senior consulting roles, more notably leading API data solutions and B2B content marketing in EMEA, as well as managing Marketing and Media strategy for LinkedIn’s top 22 Global brands. In 2016, alongside LinkedIn, Afonso began using his experience as a start-up advisor which led him to become Business Partnerships director at Airfinity in the UK, and later Senior Venture Builder at Bundl, specifically building start ups inside corporate companies with bespoke innovation frameworks to find new revenue. Shifting from corporate to entrepreneur, Afonso has recently built and lead cybersecurity corporate venture Telenet Safespot from inception to launch in Belgium. Afonso holds several speaking and guest lecturing experiences in the EU, as well as innovation training in Serbia with the ICT Hub, delivering startups bootcamps in Portugal and mentoring students in the UK. Truly international, Afonso has worked in 8 and is now living in his 9th country.
